Anti-child labor policy

Last updated

Summary

Accenti does not employ children and does not tolerate child labor, forced labor or the exploitation of young people anywhere in its activities or supply chain. The minimum age for any work under our control is 18.

Who it applies to

The policy applies to all recruitment and engagement by Accenti, to every site we control, and to our contractors, labor suppliers and supply chain.

Key requirements

  • Minimum age

No one under 18 is recruited or engaged in any capacity, including casual, cleaning, catering or camp work. This exceeds national minimum ages because our work is in hazardous environments.

  • Age verification

Every person's age is checked against an original government-issued identity document before engagement, and a copy is kept on file.

  • Forced labor

Forced, bonded, trafficked or compulsory labor is prohibited. Identity documents are never withheld and workers are never charged recruitment fees.

  • Contractors and supply chain

Contracts and purchase orders prohibit child labor and give Accenti the right to verify. Higher-risk suppliers are assessed before engagement and monitored.

  • Remediation

If child labor is found, the child is removed from work safely, with their best interests first, and supported in returning to education.

  • Reporting and non-retaliation

Anyone who sees or suspects child or forced labor reports it to Human Resources or management. Good-faith reports are protected.

Reference framework

  • ILO Convention No. 182 on the Worst Forms of Child Labour
  • ILO Convention No. 138 on the Minimum Age for Admission to Employment
  • UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
  • UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • Applicable labor law in Somalia, the United Arab Emirates and every country where Accenti works
