Environmental, health and safety policy

Who it applies to

The policy covers camp accommodation, kitchens and dining, food waste, washrooms and drainage, septic systems, the commercial workshop, fuel and chemical storage and the vehicle cleaning bay. It applies to employees, camp residents, contractors, suppliers and visitors.

Key requirements

• Accommodation and potable water

  Clean, ventilated and maintained rooms, safe electrical installations, and drinking water from an approved source, stored safely and tested.

• Kitchens and food hygiene

  Food from approved suppliers, raw and cooked food kept apart, controlled temperatures, and food handlers who keep high standards of hygiene.

• Sanitation and septic systems

  Clean washrooms on a documented schedule, sewage kept separate from stormwater, and septic tanks treated as confined spaces.

• Workshop and vehicle maintenance

  Maintenance in designated, ventilated areas with drip trays, approved vehicle supports, isolation before work, and used oil collected separately.

• Fuel and chemical storage

  Approved tanks on an impermeable base with secondary containment, trained people for refueling, a chemical register and current Safety Data Sheets.

• Waste, emergencies and monitoring

  Waste segregated at source and never burned or buried, planned emergency drills, recorded training, and inspections tracked to closure.
